What does the itinerary look like?
Meeting point at Perućac Lake, travel document check, and boarding the boat.
Perućac is a tourist settlement located 13 km from Bajina Bašta, on the right bank of the Drina River. In its immediate vicinity is the large hydroelectric dam, where the lake begins. Stretching 54 km, the lake forms a magnificent canyon that extends all the way to Višegrad.
Cruise through the Drina River Canyon to Višegrad
During this 52-kilometre cruise, we will enjoy the beauty of nature, the habitats of plant and animal species within Tara National Park, the confluence of the Žepa River and the Drina River, the narrowest section of the canyon, Stari Brod camp, small streams and rivers, and medieval fortifications along the way.
Free time to explore Andrićgrad and the old Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge
The town of Višegrad stretches along the right bank of the Drina River, and partly along the left bank as well, on both sides of the Rzav River, which flows into the Drina here in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. The town’s greatest landmark is the bridge over the Drina, built in 1571 by Mehmed Paša Sokolović. It was immortalized by Ivo Andrić in his novel The Bridge on the Drina, the work for which he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. Since 2014, visitors have also been able to explore Andrićgrad, a tourist complex conceived by film director Emir Kusturica and inspired by the works and characters of Ivo Andrić. Built entirely of stone, the town is a blend of historical periods and architectural styles that shaped this region over time, including the Byzantine style, the Ottoman period, the Renaissance, and Classicism.
Cruise through the Drina River Canyon from Višegrad to Perućac, end of the tour
A cruise along the winding river course, passing through narrow gorges, with the calming green waters soothing the eyes and bringing a deep sense of peace to every observer. The journey ends near the hydroelectric power plant, whose construction led to the creation of Perućac Lake. The formation of this artificial reservoir did not diminish the original beauty of the area — it only added another remarkable image to the tourist postcard of Bajina Bašta.

Important Travel Notes
- Adult citizens of the Republic of Serbia may travel with a valid ID card or passport. Children must have a passport to cross the border, regardless of whether they are travelling with their parents or not, and if they are not travelling with both parents, they must also have parental consent.
- Foreign citizens are required to check the entry requirements for Bosnia and Herzegovina on their own.
- The deadline for submitting personal details is two days before departure, while bookings are accepted in advance for the entire season. The required information includes: full name, date of birth, and the number of a valid ID card or passport.
- It is not possible to board the boat unless you have reserved your seat and submitted the required information.
- Transport of pets is not allowed.
- Due to navigation conditions, the scheduled arrival time may vary by up to 30 minutes.
- In the event of unfavorable weather conditions or a low lake water level, the boat operator reserves the right to cancel the excursion no later than 2 days before the cruise.
- In the event of a sudden drop in the lake water level, making navigation to Višegrad unsafe, the alternative would be a 24 km cruise through the canyon to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and back, with a total duration of 3 hours and 15 minutes. We would like to emphasize that this almost never happens — it has occurred only twice in the past 8 years — but such situations can arise suddenly and without warning, sometimes leaving no opportunity to inform passengers in advance that the full cruise cannot be carried out.
- A minimum of 50 paying passengers is required for the tour to take place. In the event of an insufficient number of passengers, the boat operator reserves the right to cancel the cruise no later than 2 days before the scheduled date.

Guest Reviews

“The excursion was very well designed: short, engaging, and dynamic. The boat ride felt like a reward for the children, while the educational part kept them interested the entire time. The organization was flawless, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Honestly, we need more content like this in education.”

Željko Ćelović

“As a parent accompanying the group, I expected an ordinary boat ride, but what we got was a true ‘classroom in nature.’ The children were excited, yet focused — learning about the lake, the Drina, and Tara through stories and real-life examples all around them. They came back full of impressions and stories to share.”

Ivana Spasić

“We took our class on an educational excursion, and it turned out to be a perfect choice. The children listened carefully, asked questions, and took part in the discussion, all while enjoying the cruise. What I especially appreciated was that the program was adapted to their age group and that everything ran smoothly and safely.”

Milena Popović

“As a teacher, I was delighted by how natural and engaging the educational program on the boat was. The children were able to connect what they learn in school with real-life scenes around them: the water, the shoreline, the forest, and the birds. Everything was well organized, with no crowding or stress, clear rules, and an excellent crew.”

“Western Serbia is truly a wonderful destination. The delightful surprises just keep coming. The well-known Serbian hospitality, an excellent program, great guides, outstanding organization, and fantastic food… Overall, a perfect 10 out of 10 — I would give it an 11 if the scale allowed it. This is definitely a trip you should take at least once in your lifetime. As for me, I keep coming back again and again.”
