Perućac Lake – a place where nature quiets the city

Banjska Stena – a view you will remember

The most famous “wow” moment in this area is the Banjska Stena viewpoint – a place with a panoramic view over the Drina Canyon and Perućac Lake. The viewpoint sits at around 1,065 metres above sea level, so it truly feels like you are watching nature from the front row.

Photo tip: choose a sunny day and come early in the morning or just before sunset – the light is at its best, and the crowds are smaller.

A visit to Perućac without a boat ride is like Tara without the scent of pine trees. Grizzly 1 is a great choice for a relaxing cruise and for enjoying the dramatic scenery of the canyon. The boat has a covered deck and a capacity of around 55–60 seats, making the ride comfortable even when the sun gets strong. Cruises are also seasonal, usually running from 1 May to 15 October, depending on weather conditions.

When is the best time to visit?

In short: spring and autumn are the most photogenic, summer is the most reliable for longer days and clear views, while winter feels magical but can make access more difficult. If you want the best of both worlds – pleasant temperatures and crisp, clear air – aim for September and October.
